Andrew Lawson

Andrew has been Head Gardener at the Tresco Abbey Garden since 1994. He has a particular interest in plant propagation having been responsible for plant production in the garden since 1985.

He has travelled extensively around the world as a garden tour leader and is an expert on tender plants.


Robert Sanger

Robert is a professional travel and landscape photographer living in Truro. A regular visitor and photographer of the islands his photos can be seen in his company’s Isles of Scilly calendars, postcards and greetings cards.

Mark Bowden & Allan Brodie

Mark and Allan are an archaeologist and an architectural historian who work for English Heritage. In 2011 they published Defending Scilly, a book documenting the rich military heritage of Scilly during the past 500 years.


Dr Mark Spencer

Mark is botany curator at The Natural History Museum, London. His life long passion for plants was fuelled by a childhood spent wandering the Lizard Peninsula and the Northhamptonshire countryside. His interests include fungi, urban plants, climate change and invasive plant species. 


Rosemary Parslow

Rosemary is a professional ecologist with a particular interest in Scilly. She wrote the Collins New Naturalist 'Isles of Scilly' publ;ished in 2007 and has also produced a checklist of flowering plants and ferns for the IOS Museum


Katharine Sawyer

Katharine has an MA in Archaeology and moved to Scilly in 1999. She has been leading guided walks on the islands for 10 years. Her interest in all things Scillonian also extends to birds and sub tropical plants.


Mike Nelhams

Mike has been Garden Curator at Tresco Abbey Garden for over 25 years. He is a fellow of the Insitute of Horticulture and a lover of plants from the world's Mediterranean climate zones.


Rachel Lambert MA, BA,Dip


Rachel has been visiting the Scillies since 1994, and is passionate about the islands diversity of plants, in particular their edible and medicinal qualities. She has been leading Wild Food Walks since 2007, and is reknowned for her knowledgeable and accessible approach.


Jaclyn Pearson

Jaclyn is a Zoologist who moved to the islands after years of reading about the special wildlife of this archipelago. She is Marine Biodiversity Officer at the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust and Field Officer for the RSPB and offers guided walks to the community in order to point out the birds, mammals and invertebrates which are so important to the islands


Clare Lewis & Angie Gall

Clare is native to the islands and is passionate about the beautiful environment, promoting its awareness and protection. Clare manages the annual inter Island walk. Angie is a marine biologist and conservationist and has been running the Isles of Scilly Marine Biodiversity Project for the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust for the last two years. She will tell you about marine conservation in the islands and introduce you to some unusual marine inhabitants.
